Goals
The National Health Law and Policy Resource Center (NHLP) conducts a Maternal and Child Health Program. The purpose of this program is to promote access to needed health care and health related services for pregnant women, mothers, and children with special health care needs, and their families.
Activities
The activities of the Maternal and Child Health Program include:
- Being an information clearinghouse
- Public policy and legal oriented research
- Education and training
- Advocacy
Initiatives and Projects
During the past two decades the MCH program has conducted a number of other externally funded initiatives and projects. Some of the subjects with which past projects have dealt are:
- Development of Community-based System of Comprehensive Coordinated Family-Based Services for Children with Special Health Care Needs and Their Families,
- Public policy and legal issues with respect to Maternal Substance Abuse and Infants Exposed to Drugs In Utero: Public Policy and Legal Issues,
- Public policy and legal issues with respect to Women of Reproductive Age and Children with HIV Infection: Public Policy and Legal Issues,
- Adolescent Health Care Decision Making and Parental Consent and Notification Requirements,
- Provision of Health Services in Public School Settings : Public Policy and Legal Issues,
- Home and Community-Based Care for Technology Dependent Children,
- Case Management Services for Children with Special Health Care Needs and Their Families.
