Guardianship and Conservatorship Assistance and Monitoring Pilot Project
The NHLP Resource Center is conducting a pilot project to assist guardians and conservators to carry out their duties and responsibilities to incapacitated individuals, who are wards of the court, and to assist courts to more fully monitor guardianships and conservatorships in order to assure that wards are receiving proper care and protect.

New Iowa Uniform Power of Attorney Act
The Iowa Uniform Power of Attorney Act became effective July 1, 2014. Under this new and very important law, an individual, the principal, may designate another individual, an agent, to make decisions with respect to financial matters on his or her behalf.

The Aging Population and Effective Representation of Older Adults

NHLP Resource Center Colloquium
The Aging Population, Alzheimer's and Other Dementias: Law and Public Policy
During the 2012 spring semester, the NHLP Resource Center sponsored a colloquium on legal and public policy issues with respect to the aging American population and Alzheimer’s and other dementias. The Colloquium addressed the legal and other needs of the aging population and the basics of Alzheimer’s and other dementias and public policy and legal issues posed by a rapidly aging population and the sharp increase in Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
