In the first session of the colloquium, we welcomed guest speaker Professor Lawrence Frolik, Professor of Law at the University of Pittsburgh. Prof. Frolik provided a general overview of the aging population in the United States, including such age-related issues as hearing and vision loss and dementia. Prof. Frolik also outlined the practice of elder law and how elder law has changed over the years. He described the work of an elder law attorney, including financial and health care planning, estate planning, and issues relating to Medicare and Medicaid. Prof. Frolik described the varied services that an elder law attorney often provides.
